The theme for this year’s national poetry day was The Environment. To celebrate national poetry day, we loved working collaboratively with Macauley and linking our Delta schools together.

As we are of similar academy sizes, it was great to link year groups between Wybers Wood and Macaulay over Teams. Classes had the chance to share a learnt poem linked to the environment, then exchanged ideas on how we look after our environment within school.

This event allowed children to reap the many benefits of performing poetry alongside the many advantages of linking schools locally, such as;

·        Developing skills of enquiry, critical thinking, reflection, and communication.

·        Developing trust, empathy, awareness, and respect.

·        Providing opportunities for children and young people to meet, build new relationships, work together, and contribute to the wider community.
